Frequently Asked Questions

What services are offered?

I offer confidential in person and telehealth sessions for adults 18+. Time frame for sessions are 60 min, 45 min, and 30 min. Please note that I do not provide couples therapy, family therapy, therapy for substance use, or group therapy. I do provide a free 15 minute phone consultation to determine if we are a good fit. Please inquire about setting up a call. Consultation can also be done via e-mail.

What do sessions look like?

During our first session, I would like to get to know you better and hear your story, as well as learn how I can best be helpful. I will ask some background questions of you and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions of me or about therapy in general. Our second session will be dedicated to collaboratively creating a treatment plan with goals that are unique and individualized to each person. Depending on what your goals are, we will discuss what approaches to therapy may fit best for you.

How much will this cost?

I accept a wide variety of insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Magellen, United Healthcare, Security Health Plan, Medicaid (Badgercare), Medicare, WPS, Tricare, and more. Please speak with your insurance company directly to inquire about what your benefits are. They can let you know how much they will cover for each visit, what your deductible is, and inform you of any copays that you are responsible for. Please note that it is patient responsibility to inquire about insurance benefits prior to scheduling. Patients are responsible for any costs acquired which are not covered by insurance. I also accept cash pay via credit or debit card. Cash pay clients receive a discount if paid on date of service. This fee is $130 per session. You are entitled to a good faith estimate of cost if you choose not to utilize insurance benefits. I am happy to provide a superbill if you would like to use out of network benefits or HSA benefits. You can pay your balance on the patient portal at any time. If you would like me to set up automatic payments, please inquire. To prevent late cancellation or no-show fees ($100 per missed session), please give a 24-hour notice if you cannot attend an appointment.

What can I expect from my therapist?

You can expect professionalism, respect, honesty, compassion, confidentiality, a safe environment, and the ability to speak openly about the issues that are important to you without fear of judgement. You can also expect referrals to community resources or to other providers if there is an area that I am unable to assist with.

Are there any exceptions to confidentiality?

Mental health clinicians are mandated reporters meaning they are legally required to report a risk of harm to a client or others, as well as abuse of an elder, person with a disability or a child. Clinicians can also be subject to court subpoenas. Additionally, if you use insurance, there is a chance that your plan may request session notes to cover sessions.
